| Some helpful answers to often-asked questions...
When is the best time to schedule
a shoot?
If photographing young children or
pets, schedule the session around their moods. Cranky or tired
subjects can be a challenge. For outside shots, overcast days
and late afternoons provide the best lighting. I have studio
lights available to provide lighting for dark interiors.
Where should we take photos?
Avoid cluttered or busy backgrounds. Neutral-colored couches
are nice, as are fireplaces, porches, serene sitting areas,
and gardens. Even a nice, big, fluffy comforter makes for
a great portrait setting.
What to wear?
Neutral, solid-color clothing that provides contrast between
you and your pet; for instance, if you have a light dog, wear a dark shirt. Patterns, in general, can be distracting. For timeless portraits, stay basic with your clothing, jewelry, and makeup.
Outifts and props for babies and pets? For babies, avoid stiff collars and anything that will block their
face. We can do several different outfits for the shoot, and it's always good to have a "plan B" outfit ready.
For pets, avoid anything that will fall off, unless
you have a very calm and patient pet. Treats and toys can
help get your pet's attention - I will even dangle toys from
my camera to get a great shot! |
